Link Building

Links earned with useful content and relationships in your industry, never bought to manipulate rankings. Sponsored collaborations, when there are any, are always declared.

Two documents joined by a chain link: links between websites

Link building is the work of getting other websites to link to yours. For Google, links are an important signal: they help it discover pages and understand how relevant and reliable they are. At SEO SRL we do it in one way only: links earned with useful content and with relationships with websites, journalists and organizations in your industry. Any sponsored collaborations are always declared, as Google's policies require.

For a foreign company entering Italy, this means getting cited by Italian sites, newspapers and associations in your sector, which are the sources Italian customers, and the AI tools they use, actually read.

Who it is for, and who it is not for

Link building is right for you if:

  • your site is technically sound and has good content, but competitors outrank you because more sites talk about them;
  • you have data, guides, tools or stories that could interest newspapers, blogs and associations in your industry;
  • you want your brand to be cited in the sources AI tools consult, such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity;
  • you received low-quality links in the past and want to know whether they are a problem.

It is not right for you if you are looking for "100 links in a month" at a fixed price. Nor is it right if your site has technical errors or weak pages: in that case it is better to start with an SEO audit, because links bring little value to pages that don't deserve to rank.

The problems it solves

  • Good pages that don't rank. The content is up to standard, but the site has little authority compared with competitors.
  • A brand that is rarely mentioned. No one talks about you outside your own site, and this also weighs on AI answers.
  • Risky links. Links bought in the past, link exchanges or site networks that may violate Google's spam policies and lead to a penalty.

What we do and what we deliver

  1. Link profile analysis. We study the links you have, your competitors' links and the pages that receive them. What we deliver: a map of useful links, risky links and the industry sites where competitors have links and you don't.
  2. Content worth linking to. Guides, original data, tools, reference pages: resources a site in your industry has a reason to cite. What we deliver: the ideas, in order of priority, and the content written or revised with you.
  3. Digital PR. We pitch the content to journalists, blogs, associations and partners it makes sense to work with. What we deliver: the list of contacts made and the replies.
  4. Mentions and citations. We look for sites that mention you without linking, and industry listings where you should be. What we deliver: the requests made and the results.
  5. Reporting. Every link obtained, with the site, the page and the type of link. What we deliver: the monthly report and the priorities for the following month.

Not all links are equal. A link from a site in your industry, placed in text that talks about you, is worth more than many links from unrelated sites. Unlinked brand mentions, content marketing and a presence on social media also count, because they bring your content to the people who might cite it.

How we work

Link building follows the same five-phase method as all our SEO services.

  1. Audit and data. We analyze the link profile of your site and your competitors', with Search Console data.
  2. Strategy and keywords. We choose the pages to strengthen and the topics on which your site can become a source.
  3. Technical implementation and content. We prepare or improve the content worth linking to and fix internal links to the important pages.
  4. Authority and multichannel. Digital PR, mentions, collaborations and social media: the work that brings links and citations.
  5. Measurement and iteration. Every month we check links obtained, rankings and traffic, and decide what to repeat and what to change.

How long it takes

Link building is slow work. Content has to be published, found and cited; then Google has to crawl the page that contains the link. As a guideline, the first links usually arrive in the first months of work, while the effect on rankings generally shows after several months and depends on the competition in your industry. That is why we don't promise a number of links per month or a ranking.

What we don't do

  • We don't buy links to push the site up. Google's policies treat buying or selling links for ranking purposes, excessive link exchanges and articles with artificially optimized links and anchor text as spam.
  • We don't use private blog networks, link exchanges or directories created only to host links.
  • We don't hide sponsorships. If an activity involves payment, for example a sponsored article on an industry site, the link is marked with the rel="sponsored" attribute, as Google requires. A link like that brings visibility and visits, not rankings.
  • We don't promise rankings or a fixed number of links: they depend on who decides to cite you.

A link profile built this way grows more slowly, but it doesn't expose you to the risk of a manual action or of updates like Google Penguin, which has been part of the core algorithm since 2016.

Straight talk: the link market

Links are bought and sold today, even by very strong sites. It is a widespread practice and everyone in the industry knows it. For Google, though, a paid link that is not declared is spam: a sponsored link must be marked with rel="sponsored". My choice, and SEO SRL's, is a different one. The techniques that really work are still those of link earning: giving someone a concrete reason to cite you.

How much link building costs

Link building is quoted on request, with packages built around the project: it is not included in the SEO consulting plans, which start at €300 a month + VAT. The cost depends on how much content is needed, the industry, the number of sites to contact and how many pages you want to strengthen. The quote lists every activity item by item, including any sponsored collaborations, which are always labeled as such.

Who runs the project

Your point of contact is Eugenio Tommasi, who has been doing SEO since 2009 and founded SEO SRL in 2021. He explains what we do, why and with what results, and shows you every link obtained. The agency's method and details are on the About page; link building is one part of SEO, together with technical work and content.

Frequently asked questions

Do you buy links to help the site rank?

No. Google's policies treat buying or selling links for ranking purposes as spam. We work on links earned with content and digital PR. If an activity involves payment, such as a sponsored article, the link is marked with rel="sponsored": it brings visibility and visits, not rankings.

How many links do you get each month?

We don't promise a fixed number: links depend on who decides to cite you. We tell you which content and which contacts we will put to work, and every month we show you the links obtained, one by one, with the site and the page.

How much does link building cost?

It is quoted on request, with packages built around the project, and it is not included in monthly SEO consulting. The cost depends on how much content is needed, the industry and how many pages you want to strengthen. Prices are + VAT.

I bought links in the past: is that a problem?

It can be. We analyze the link profile and check Search Console for a manual action. If the links violate Google's policies, we have them removed or qualified where possible and, if needed, prepare the reconsideration request.

How long before links have an effect?

The first links usually arrive in the first months; the effect on rankings generally shows after several months and depends on the competition. Google first has to crawl the pages that contain the links, and in the meantime competitors keep working.
